Frequently asked questions

How can I request an appointment?

Please send me an e-mail, in which I ask you to summarize in a few sentences what you would like help with. I will respond to inquiries within 48 hours and recommend available appointments for our first meeting. If none of the recommended appointments are suitable for you, I will send you additional suggestions.

What happens during the first session?

At the first meeting, we both get an opportunity to consider whether we can commit to working together. We discuss the frameworks of working together and any questions you may have. If you feel you need other kind of help or I cannot take you as a client, I will try to help you find the right professional.

What should I expect in terms of the consultation process?

If we commit to working together after the first meeting, the next 2-3 sessions will be spent on exploring your situation and problem and setting the goal(s) of the counseling process. We usually meet on a weekly basis (or as appropriate). The length of the counseling process is typically between 5 to 20 sessions, but this depends on the nature of the problem and individual needs.

Does the psychologist have a duty of confidentiality?

I will not share any information provided during the counseling sessions with third parties without your consent. Only exceptions are cases specified by law (court order, endangering the physical integrity of oneself or others). I handle personal information of my clients in accordance with GDPR. Click here for more information.

Is there a possibility for online consultations?

If a personal meeting cannot be arranged (e.g., due to health reasons, quarantine or distance), yes. In my experience, for most clients it is helpful to physically distance themselves from their usual environment during the consultations, to be able to focus on themselves undisturbed in the therapeutic space. If this is not possible for objective reasons, for the online consultations it is important to create a calm and private environment and to have stable internet connection. I use the Zoom platform for online consultations.

What happens if I must cancel my appointment?

The appointment can be changed no later than 48 hours before the agreed time. In case of cancellations within 48 hours, 50% of the consultation fee will be charged. Exceptions are urgent health issues or cases of force majeure. If I cancel your appointment within 48 hours, you will receive a 50% discount from the next consultation fee.
